Lord, Make us Instruments of thy Peace (Op.18 No.3)

An a cappella setting for SATB choir of the prayer by St. Francis of Assisi

A setting of the prayer by St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) for unaccompanied SATB choir

This short a capella setting of the Prayer by St. Francis of Assisi was commissioned by David and Louise Atkins for their wedding service on August 21st 1993, in Shirley, Croydon, UK where an invited choir was directed by the composer.

Beginning and ending in B♭ major, it modulates freely and is extensively chromatic, with appropriate keys and discordance used to 'paint' the words.
