A short piece for solo tuba with jazz-flavoured syncopation
- 2000/ arr. 2018
- 2 minutes, 30 seconds
This short piece for solo tuba is a transcription of Praia Mar (Op.25). Composed in October 2000, in Carcavelos, near Lisbon, Portugal, it was written for an al fresco première the next day, outside the Royal Palace at Sintra. Constructed as quasi-rondo (A B A1 C B1 coda), this moto perpetuo, tonal piece has a lilting swing, with jazz-flavoured syncopation, exploiting a wide range of the instrument.
